A graduate degree from the Department of Microbiology and Immunology is an excellent platform for launching an advanced scientific career in academia, industry, and other sectors. In university settings, students may work as research associates, teaching professors, or research professors. They may work as microbiologists, immunologists, data scientists, or in other senior scientist positions at biotechnology companies. They may apply their expertise to the areas of business, government, and law, serving as scientific consultants, policy analysts, or patent attorneys. Our master’s program provides a strong foundation for working in many of these roles or for pursuing professional programs in medicine, dentistry, or pharmacology, while our MD-PhD program trains the next generation of clinician-scientists specializing in infection and immunity.
