
Our graduate program coursework provides instruction in advanced topics, research techniques, and professional skills in microbiology and immunology. Course offerings are updated each year but have previously included:
- Microbiological and Immunological Research: Development of core skillset needed to conduct research with a focus on written and oral communication skills, peer review skills, scientific ethics, and the ability to critically evaluate papers in the literature
- Flow cytometry: Introduction to flow cytometry with an emphasis on experimental design, antibody panel generation, data acquisition, and analysis
- Teaching and Learning in Microbiology and Immunology: Introduction to the latest teaching principles and best practices to enhance teaching and learning in science
- Data Science Research in Microbiology and Immunology: Hands-on experience with computational tools used to process, visualize, and analyze datasets from microbiology and immunology research
- Advanced Immunogenetics: Examination of current and emerging concepts of immunology and immunogenetics in health and disease
- Ecological and Synthetic Microbiology: Exploration of new disciplinary interfaces between microbial ecology and biological engineering
